The Carvin Museum was launched in June of 2002, and was originally The Carvin Bass Museum, and was dedicated simply to Carvin bass guitars.  However, about a year later, I decided to add guitars, because the available guitar info on the 'net was rather hard to find, and I thought I could do a decent job with it.  Shortly after, I decided to go ahead and add guitar and bass amps, as well as some pro audio (Carvin's pro audio selections don't change as often as the instruments, so doing it for every year would have been redundant).

The site has evolved dramatically over the years.  From 20 or 30 pages and less than 100 images, the site has exploded to over 2000 pages and over 9000 images, showing hundreds of individually owned instruments, vintage flyers, and eBay items, as well as magazine articles, technical diagrams and owner's manuals.  And, or course, the catalogs.  Every Carvin catalog since 1954 is represented here - over 50 years worth.  There are also almost 200,000 internal and external hyperlinks.

The site currently greets over 500,000 visitors a month - a number that has steadily grown over the years.  I would like to express my personal thanks to everyone who has helped make the site so successful, and for all the support I've gotten from my visitors.

SITE STUFF:

I have used several hosts for the site over the years, and through a process of trial and error, finally found an extremely reliable and affordable one - 1and1 Internet.  I generally don't endorse other companies on this site, but 1and1 has really done a terrific job supporting the Carvin Museum.  Check 'em out - they have packages starting at just 5 bucks a month.  Be sure and click the button on the left now, and later if you sign up with them, because the CM will receive credit for referring you to them.

Right now, the site is on a Linux server, with SSI, MySQL database access, as well some other bells and whistles.  The site is optimized for 800X600 and 1024X768 resolutions or greater, and has been tested with IE, Netscape, Opera & Firefox.  The site is graphically intense, so if you're dialing up, just be patient.

If you have any questions or comments about the site, feel free to e-mail the Webmaster, or post a message in the Forums
